Digital photography workshops – how to choose the right one
Online digital photography workshops offer a great place to learn more about this artform. It can be done at your own pace and at the level which you are at. But how do you choose the best class?
The first step is to find out what you would like to learn by making a list. As a beginner, your list is bound to be rather short as you may not be aware of all the different things that are available to learn about. If you just want to learn the basics of lightin and exposure, that is just fine. You may not even think about using layers, models or how to creatively blur the photographs. You should also consider the amount of time you have available to commit to the lessons. While a workshop will generally shorter, digital photography classes are longer. A workshop is usually spread over a number of days, whereas a course will have lessons that last about an hour, spread over several months. Online lessons offer more flexibility as you can attend when it suits you.
The internet is a great resource for finding listings of local classes, however they are not always that well-indexed. An online class will be more convenient than an offline class as you will not have to attend the classes at a set time. Once you have found a class or workshop that you would be interested in joining, have a look at the syllabus. Make sure that the syllabus covers the poinst that you wish to learn about. Also look at the level – as a beginner you will be lost in an advanced course. It is best to choose a lower level class, even if you already know a little about the topic. While some of the content may be repetitive, theere will still be a lot of new information from which you will benefit. Joining local or online digital photography workshops is a great way to gain valuable information and understanding of how to expand your understanding of the topic.
